The Payne House appears to date as far back as the early 1800s when Warm Springs was a bustling village with large hotel,spa scene and coach traffic headed west.

Now it occupies a quiet corner next to Gristmill Square. Warm water from the historic thermal springs flows through the back yard as a tumbling brook. The home was completely renovated in 2005 with all new wiring, plumbing, heat, A/C, tiled baths and copper roof. Four french doors open the kitchen and breakfast area onto a large wrap around porch focused on the stream and old waterwheel of the adjacent mill. There is an additional guest bedroom and two baths.
